What We Were Actually Looking for in Dallas
When people hear that we went to Dallas Market, they usually think one thing:
shopping.
And yes, technically, that’s true.
But that’s not really what we were doing.
We weren’t there to fill racks.
We weren’t there to buy random pieces because they were trending.
We weren’t there to come home with more.
We were there to come home with better.
Because at Jannica, we don’t buy around categories.
We buy around women.
We buy around the woman standing in front of her closet wanting it to feel simpler, clearer, and more like her again.
That means every piece has to earn its place.
When we walked Dallas, we weren’t just asking, “Is this cute?”
We were asking:
Does this belong in the life of the woman we dress?
Does it bring clarity?
Does it make getting dressed easier?
Does it feel like Annie? Like Jessica?
Does it have a role in the system?
Because that’s how we curate.
Everything at Jannica is filtered through three roles:
Base
The grounding piece.
This is what gives the outfit its starting point.
The piece that settles everything down and gives her something strong to build on.
A great base does not beg for attention.
It creates stability.
Layer
The piece that adds shape and ease.
This is where an outfit starts to feel alive.
A layer brings movement, polish, flexibility, and dimension.
It helps her look more pulled together without trying harder.
Anchor
The piece that gives the outfit its message.
This is the piece that says something.
The piece that changes the feeling of the look.
The piece that makes the outfit feel intentional instead of accidental.
When we were in Dallas, we were looking for pieces that could clearly live in one of those roles.
Not pieces that looked exciting for five seconds.
Pieces that actually knew how to do their job.
We were also looking through the lens of the Edits.
Annie
We were looking for softness with shape.
Movement. Ease. Pieces that feel beautiful without feeling overdone.
The kind of pieces that let a woman feel feminine, expressive, and open, without feeling like she’s dressing up as someone she’s not.
Jessica
We were looking for strength, clarity, and edge.
Bold color. Strong silhouettes. Pieces that feel grounded and confident.
The kind of pieces that hold presence without losing wearability.
That was the difference.
We weren’t buying for “spring.”
We weren’t buying for “trend.”
We were buying for recognition.
For the woman who doesn’t need more confusion in her closet.
For the woman who needs pieces that work together.
For the woman who wants to get dressed and feel something click back into place.
That’s what we were actually looking for in Dallas.
And if a piece didn’t support that vision, it stayed behind.
Because beautiful is not enough anymore.
At least not for us.
Not for this brand.
Not for the woman we’re dressing.
We want more than pretty.
We want purposeful.
We want wearable.
We want pieces that meet her in real life and still make her feel like herself again.
That is what came home with us.
And that is what built the April Drop.
